Narco Pushers: DEAD MEN WALKING

By Mortz C. Ortigoza

Last Monday I told a town’s chief of police (COP) about ”netizens” ridiculed him in social media Face Book of his soft approach to illegal drug pushers.
“Iyong ibang bayan at siyudad, andami ng sumuko at namamatay, pero dito sa area ninyo wala pa. Kelan daw may mang-aagaw din na pushers ng baril, tanong nila?” I posed.

The police official smiled on the dare. He said, the mockers should give him a week and he will show them he meant business.
Four days later, a top drug personality in the town was pumped in with bullets by the policemen after he grabbed the guns of the latter.
“Boss, may nang-agaw na ng baril sa area ko,” he called me.
“Send me the photo of the dead pusher, i- post natin doon sa Face Book ng mga nanga-ngantiyaw, “ I retorted.
He said aside from the deceased, he was targeting, Mr. XYZ, another Top 5 drug personality.
“Matagal na kaming may gustong tumbahin dito. Top 5 sa drug list namin. Problema doon siya nagtatago sa isang siyudad,” he confided to me.
He said he even plan to “sell” (or “benta” in vernacular) him to the chief of police there to get rid of the peddler.
He told me his men want to kill the habitual delinquent.

This is the good thing befriending cops.
You got the glimpse of the nuances of their work. You know a week or a month before who would be the next person to be killed.
Every time I saw a target for assassination, I could only mutter: Dead Man Walking!

“Sino ang pumapatay dito mga lowly P01 or may berdugo kayo talaga?” I asked the top cop.
He said he got an executioner there. But his sergeant, while we were eating ‘bulalo” and "lechon" treated by the COP, butted in that anybody can be a killer.
“Minsan pati iyong PO1 pumapatay na rin pag nakakantiyawan ng grupo”.

Tough American General George Patton declared  on this famous quote in May 31, 1944 before he and the U.S 6th Armored Division attack France from Great Britain, excerpts:
'“We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have or ever will have. We're not just going to shoot the bastards, we're going to rip out their living goddamned guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun cocksuckers by the bushel-fucking-basket”.
Here's the famous quip of tough Bulacan Police Provincial Director Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat:
“Stop or be Double-Tap!”.
Double -tap means an act of firing a gun twice in rapid succession.

This quip ensued when Colonel Caramat, a Pangasinense, warned a rogue policeman PO3 Rogelio “Big Boy” Sta. Ana who submitted himself to Caramat, a PMAyer, for fear he would be the next to be liquidated after his partner, PO3 Michael Lee Manalad, was tortured, killed, and displayed in the public with a cardboard in front of his body with words ““Pulis na pusher ’wag tularan (This policeman is a pusher. Do not emulate).”
Both Manalad and  Sta. Ana moonlighted to sell shabu inside their mobile car in Malolos City, Bulacan.
