Reporters Nearly Box: Thought "Kin" Was Jap, Chink

By Mortz C. Ortigoza
'IT'S FINAL, ART FOR GOVERNOR - KIN"

Radio Man 1 - Iyong Kin sigurado ako apelyido ng Hapon iyan.
Radio Man 2: Napaka bobo mo naman.
KIN (noun), by the way means "one's family and relations. Example: "He is expected to make a payment to his wife's kin" synonyms: relatives, relations, family (members), and kindred.

Is Mr. Kin Japanese, Chinese, or Korean?

Here's a broadcaster (a pastor who accidentally became a radio commentator of a religious station) who asked the mayor of a city why the hizzoner (His Honor the Mayor) practiced double standard on filling a string of corruption cases against the city treasurer, cashier, and a clerk who were found to have Prima Facie (Latin words for lawyers “on the first appearance”) on the cases they allegedly committed.
“Bakit niyo kinasuhan iyong tatlo ng Anti-Graft & Corrupt Practices, bakit si Prima Facie hindi niyo kinasuhan – ano ba ang meron kay Prima Facie at hindi magalaw-galaw, mayor?” he exasperatedly posed in a press conference in San Carlos City.
Of the 30 media men who were at that conference, only three chuckled. The rest were probably as “stupid” as the broadcaster, they thought Prima Facie or Prima Fa-Sy was the older brother of Northern Times publisher Lelia Sy.
Could you still remember a lady radio commentator explaining in his program that those suspected John Doe and Jane Doe who escaped the police dragnet were probably sibling or cousins because of their similar surnames?
The Americans have a quipped for all of those boo-boos: “I’ll be damned!”

SUPT.: Ikaw talaga Max!

HOST IN THE MISS GAY: Experts said if the Filipinos want to be globally competitive the government should introduce K-12 to its education system. What’s your STAND on K-12?

BADING (na kamukha ni Barok sa Hiwaga Komik na sobrang nerbiyos kasi nose-bleed English ang tanong): What’s my stand? I don’t want to stand, I want to sit! I don’t like K-2 nor K-12, what I liked is K-9 Dog Style. Thank you!

(NOTE: Most of my write ups above were anecdotes. Only one of them was a satire.

Why Reporters Hide Their News Source

 By Mortz C. Ortigoza

When a newspaper writer would not divulge the name of his source by saying “the source asked to hide his name” or “the source asked in condition of anonymity” it means he based on “Deep Background”.
A journalistic term that the information can be used but no source any kind would be identified in the newspaper just like at the Washington Post where Bob Woodward wrote on his book’s The Secret Man: The Story of Watergate’s Deep Throat.
Likewise, the Philippine government, just like in the United States where she copy cats many of its law, has a Shield Law called Republic Act No. 1477.
The statute says that “Without prejudice to his liability under the civil and criminal laws, the publisher, editor, columnist or duly accredited reporter of any newspaper, magazine or periodical of general circulation cannot be compelled to reveal the source of any news-report or information appearing in said publication which was related in confidence to such publisher, editor or reporter unless the court or a House or committee of Congress finds that such revelation is demanded by the security of the State (Section 1).Image result for shield law

I was not spared not to be criticized, just like other columnists, by a few readers why I would not divulge my source but instead contented myself on a “blind item” style of writing.

VIDEO: JDV on the lack of understanding of the Pinoys on Federalism

Q & A: Former 5-Time Speaker Joe de Venecia known also as JDV on the thorough study of Federalism, say 3 years, because the Filipinos don't understand it yet.

- He cited a strong run of disapproval (of the Filipinos) is mounting because of lack of understanding.
- Thorough study on the Pros and Cons of Federalism.
- Look what the financial managers feared on the tens of billions expenses and loses (yearly) Federalism bring to the coffer.
- De Venecia during his time under Pres. Gloria Arroyo (his former vice presidential tandem) almost got the nod of the Supreme Court when the SC voted 8-7 against his vaunted People's Initiative to change the Presidential-Representative system to Parliamentary -Federalism in the 1987 Constitution.

Did China ask Duterte not to buy the F-16 Vipers?

 By Mortz C. Ortigoza

Did President Rodrigo R. Duterte procrastinate in giving the go signal in the procurement of the most lethal technological advanced combat jets’ U.S made F-16 Viper because the Chinese asked him not to buy them?
In case the Philippines purchase the latest version of the fourth generation F-16V Block 70’s opus of Maryland based Lockheed Martin, the Philippines Air Force will be possessing, according to Wikipidea, the most modern aircraft in terms of avionics, radar, electronic warfare equipment, automated round collision avoidance system (AGCAS), cockpit and weapon systems.
Before we go to the boring details of the “Messenger of Death from the Sky”, here are the readers’ friendly features of the plane and the “politics” that surround it.

The F-16V (Viper) is the latest evolution of the F-16

The F-16V is equipped with an upgraded programmable displays generator, a Link-16 theatre data link where for example it can connect with the enemies’ location thrown to her by either of the two South Korean made frigates we bought and shoots SIMULTANEOUSLY through its advanced Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar with its  AGM 119 those absconding Chinese warships in the Scarborough and those enemies at the artificial islets, their submarines, and their cruising missiles with other  missiles it carries for those specification.
The plane’s carry the AGM-119/AGM-84/AGM-65G anti-ship missiles.
An example of AGM-119 is the Penguin anti-ship missile designated by the U.S. military. It is a Norwegian passive IR seeker -based short-to-medium range anti-ship guided missile.
The Penguin, according to Wikipidea, can be fired singly or in coordinated-arrival salvoes. Once launched the F-16 Viper is free to turn-away as the missile is inertially guided until the autonomous terminal homing phase.
The bad ass Viper is effing deadly thanks to the modern technological marvel.

The AESA radar aboard the aircraft enables all-weather targeting, and offers high-resolution detection and imaging of land-based targets. The phased array radar allows the simultaneous application of air-to-air and air-to-surface modes.
The Northrop Grumman’s APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar (SABR) AESA potency to the unsophisticated means spikes the Viper’s capabilities versus increasingly sophisticated threats that include new enemy cruise missiles as well as evermore-capable adversary fighters such as the Chinese's Sukhoi Su-35S Flanker E.
Compared to the F-16’s existing APG-68 mechanically scanned radar, the APG-83—which leverages technology from the fifth generation stealth jet’s F-35  ’s APG-81—can detect, track and identify greater numbers of targets much faster and at much longer ranges.
