Amid the rumors
that presidential front runner Rodrigo Duterte hid billions of pesos on his BPI
accounts, President Benigno Aquino III to undermine the May 9 presidential
election in favor of Administration backed Liberal Party's presidential aspirant Mar Roxas,
vice presidential candidate Antonio Trillanes threat that groups in the
military will grab power to prevent the communist friendly Duterte to assume
the presidency, and speculation in the social media that the Armed Forces of
the Philippines and the U.S Central Intelligence Agency collude, just like in Chile and South Vietnam, to assassinate
the presidential front runner, here is
an excerpt of my interviews with Duterte and his vice presidential bet, my
friend, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano about their take on these rumors just after the third presidential debate held
in Dagupan City.

MORTZ ORTIGOZA (ME): There were rumblings among the
military that they would not allow a Duterte Administration to assume power on
July 1. Several observers said that the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the
CIA would collude to topple down a President Duterte because he is identified
with the communist and would be a threat to the military alignment in the region
versus Mainland China. What’s your take?
SEN.
foreign countries because we have our national interest. We love our alliances
with other countries but they should allow Filipinos that Filipinos chose their
president.
At sa
military and police hinde sila allowed iyong partisan politics. Ramdam namin,
policy dapat Filipino mag isa at panindigan niya.
ME: Sir, are you not threatened by the pronouncements
that the military and the U.S will harm you?
MAYOR DUTERTE:
If God wants me to be there. If it’s destiny to be assassinated…hangang
diyan lang ako!
ME: They are apprehensive because they said when you
become president it means good bye to EDCA (Enhanced Defense Cooperation
Agreement) and the military aid from the U.S would stop…?
DUTERTE: Who?! Mga Amerikano?!
ME: I read that on the community page
of the military at Face Book.
DUTERTE: Let us see why? Are we dependent on
the United States for our problem here?
Is the
United States ready to die with us for us on the Spratly issue?
It we start
war because talagang hinde na makapasok ang fishermen we are deprived of a rich
fishing ground, and we declare war, is America, is EDCA useful to us? May
pakinabang ba sila sa atin?

Jose Ariel Caguioa
TumugonBurahinJose Ariel Caguioa When he first declared his candidacy, I kept an open mind about the Mayor. His accomplishments in Davao are impressive. I admired his simplicity and zero tolerance for corruption and criminality. He was an attractive choice because I desperately want to live in a country where I don't have to fear for my children's safety every time they step out of the house.
But as I listened to him and got to know him more, my confidence in the man has slowly started to erode. I tried to rationalise his words and actions. But he makes oppressive and offensive statements faster than I can make excuses for him. In my desperation, I pinned my hopes on a man who was peddling a shortcut. Never mind that it was a very long shot from reality. I was willing to risk 6 years for a chance (no matter how improbable) of seeing my beloved Philippines finally free from corruption and crime. I desperately wanted it to happen in my lifetime.
But I realised that if I take a chance on this man, I risk everything that I hold important. Not because of what anyone said against him but because of the words he uttered himself.
I can no longer pin my hopes on somebody who cannot be trusted in the big things and the small things.
1. my daughter is a teenager, I will not leave her alone in a room with the mayor. He objectifies women and sees nothing wrong with a "harmless" touch or kiss, an indecent ogle, a careless remark about rape. He dismissed his own daughter as a drama queen when she finally found the courage to admit that she was raped. He wields words that oppress women, that could make men think that rape is justified if a woman is too beautiful to resist.
2. I cannot leave my son in the same room with the mayor. I carefully watch my own words around my kids. I take pains to screen the shows that they watch and choose the people they spend time with. I help my son and daughter to become a good citizen and impress upon him the value of hard work and honesty. I can't risk one person to undo all of that. I am a teacher and I have seen that kids are impressionable and they will emulate people in authority. If the president curses, disrespects women and tells everyone that he cheated his way in school, my son will think that it is acceptable.
3. I cannot entrust our hard earned money paid in taxes to the Mayor. Devoid of any concrete platform, he anchored his entire campaign on the promise that he will end crime and corruption in 6 months. And gullible me desperately wanted to believe him. In light of recent developments, his promise has become meaningless. Only the incorruptible can end corruption. How can I believe that he is blameless when he constantly changes his statements and contradicts himself as new information about his undeclared wealth is exposed? I don't have to be a genius to figure out that the mayor is not being truthful.
TumugonBurahin4. I cannot trust that the mayor will protect innocent lives. No matter how much I want my kids to have safety and security, I cannot live with the fact that the price for it could be the life of an innocent person. The Davao Death Squad has killed 1,424 people in Davao. 132 of them were children (17 and below), some of whom were innocent bystanders or victims of mistaken identity. There was a 9 year old who was not the intended target but was killed by a stray bullet. In some parts of Davao, the death squad has morphed into a freelance kill-for-hire operation. What assurance do we have that this mandate to kill criminals without due process will not be abused by those in power and will not take the lives of innocent victims?
5. I cannot trust that the mayor will safeguard our democracy. "Pag i-impeach ako, sabi ni Trillanes, eh 'di isara ko 'yang Congress. Eh 'di wala nang mag-impeach sa akin... Ako na ang congress, ako na ang presidente. Dictator ka talaga." These were the exact words of the mayor. I cannot live with a president who will not allow anyone to contradict him, who will suppress the voice of an entire nation and bring us back to the dark ages of dictatorship.
6. I cannot trust that the mayor will protect the reputation and interest of Filipinos in the international stage. He is willing to sever ties with USA and Australia because they didn't condone his rape joke. He made embarrassing and offensive statements against Mexico and India. There is too much at stake here - our diplomatic relations, our economy that needs the help of foreign investors, our OFWs living abroad.
The elections is only 3 days away. I am not promoting any candidate because I trust that we are all capable of discerning whom to choose according to our conscience. All I ask is that you take an objective look at the mayor's character
Che Mendoza
TumugonBurahinChe Mendoza very well said sir...I'am also a teacher and hopefully lahat ng teachers na kilala ko will have the same mindset...God bless the Philippines,,,give us a president that is according to your will.

Vic Corpuz
Vic Corpuz Preserving the present constitution is of utmost importance We are electing a president under the present constitution. Not a president or dictator under another constitution or form of government. Ex. In Duterte s regime. If Leni wins as VP. It is non existent or will be eliminated. Much like vp Lopez is to former president Marcos. So the people's vote for Leni R will really not count and won't be President if Duterte violates the present constitution and gets impeached. Citizens are voting for a president not for ratification of the constitution or change of government. Changing the government or ideology is not the solution to corruption and not the way to orogress

Rigoberto Ferdinand Torres Lagumbay III
Rigoberto Ferdinand Torres Lagumbay III The commander in chief is the embodiment of the constitution. Once he goes rogue, that is the time that the soldiers will step in and stop him. All of these are just words. Words to divide us. Words to put us in a civil war state of the mind. And after these, we need to unite and make this nation a better place.

Pedro Alas Plaza what is happening now in our group . It has deviated from its original purpose that is to provide morale support to our men in uniformed and political issues is not allowed since men in uniform should remained nuetral in the political arena. Everyone knows that when the military actively support any politicians or party that would be the end of our democracy. i have suggested several times that we should not post in this group any political issues but this are ignored by many. I would suggest that this group will not used the Armed Forces of the Philippines as its heading/ title . I have served more than twenty years in the AFP and have retired but my love and respect remained with the AFP...GOD BLESS EVERYONE ...

Jose Ariel Caguioa I apologized, though I am representing no particular candidate, my motives is clear... to share what I have thought would possible destroy the morals of our children in the future and the destruction of the democracy that we are enjoying now. I did not want to offend anybody but I also need to protect what is under me. I guess you understand...
Rigoberto Ferdinand Torres Lagumbay III I am really tired of these "communist baseless link conspiracy theory". Don't you see the picture? Duterte is not a communist but a socialist. Iba ang socialism sa communism. Socialism is a marriage between democracy and communism.
TumugonBurahinBottom line: Duterte is TRYING TO UNITE A DIVIDED NATION.

Rigoberto Ferdinand Torres Lagumbay III YOU ARE SO NAIVE. I hope you know and understand the word. We are tired of seeing our fellow brothers fall just because people like you keep on feeding a propaganda that the military option is the only solution to insurgency. Excuse me for my word but what the fuck! Ganyan ka dahil hindi ka sundalo. You should know that by now, too.

Rigoberto Ferdinand Torres Lagumbay III Who the hell are you to tell me what is right from wrong? Who is Angelito De Jesus III? Do you even have a pinch of understanding on how we live on the ground day by day? The fight for insurgency is winning the hearts and minds of your enemy. Being friendly with your enemy is not equated as being one of them. The point is uniting a country who has suffered insurgency for 40 years na wala ka nang pakialam at wala kang nagawa.

Duterte does admit support for NPA. Duterte did state his plans for abolition of congress and senate. He is stating it already even before presidency. He aims for a change in government..

I hope Duterte will stay focused on how to improve government programs and services lalong lalo na sa pagbigay ng mas maraming job opportunities in rural areas, coupled with high quality educational and health services.
